Scott Valley runs on small businesses and the people behind them. We want to tell their stories, and we're inviting local makers, growers, shops and guides to share theirs.
Every guest who stays at Blossom asks some version of the same question on the first morning: where should we go? The best answers are never the obvious ones. They're the baker who takes custom orders for macarons, the florist who will build you a bouquet from whatever is blooming, the gallery that hosts a jewelry show every fall, and the theater volunteers who run movie night on Main Street. These are the people who make Scott Valley feel like a place and not just a stop on the map.
So we're starting something new in our journal, Scott Valley Life: a series about the people and businesses who make this valley what it is. If you run a business here, make something here or grow something here, we would love to tell your story.
Who we're looking for
Makers: bakers, potters, jewelers, woodworkers, soap and candle makers, artists and anyone who makes something by hand.
Growers and ranchers: farms, orchards, flower growers, beekeepers, and anyone selling at a farm stand or market.
Shops, cafes and restaurants: the places on Main Street and along the valley roads that guests should know about.
Guides and teachers: fishing and hiking guides, yoga and wellness teachers, art classes and anyone who shows visitors the valley.
Community groups and venues: theaters, galleries, museums, event organizers and the volunteers who keep them going.
You don't need to be big or new. Some of the best stories here belong to businesses that have been quietly doing good work for decades.
What we'll share
Your story: how you started, why you're in Scott Valley, and what keeps you here.
What you offer: your products, services, seasons and how people can find or order from you.
Why it matters: what your work adds to the valley, and what visitors miss if they drive past.
Where to find you: a link to your website, shop or social page, with hours and how to order, so readers can go straight to you.
Every feature is written with you, and you see it before it is published. We only share what you want shared.
What it costs
Nothing. There is no fee and no catch. A feature is our way of sending visitors your way and showing the people who stay with us what makes this valley worth coming back to.
How it helps you
Visitors looking for you: our guests come from the Bay Area, Sacramento, Portland and beyond, and they plan their days around local recommendations.
A page that keeps working: journal features stay online and show up when people search for things to do in Etna, Fort Jones and Scott Valley.
A personal recommendation: our concierge points guests to the places we have featured, and many of our itineraries link to local businesses.
Something to share: you're welcome to post your feature on your own site and social pages.
How to share your story
Email Concierge@blossomsanctuary.com with the subject line "Scott Valley Life feature."
Or text 530 572 1122.
Tell us: your name and business, what you do, how long you've been doing it, a link to your website or social page, and the best way to reach you. A few photos of your work, your products or your space are welcome. We don't need photos of people.
We'll get back to you to set up a short conversation, in person in Etna, by phone or by email, whatever suits you.
A few neighbors we already love
Some of the businesses guests ask about most, and that you'll find throughout our journal:
Denny Bar Co., a short walk from the house on Main Street in Etna.
Little Whisk Baking Co., custom-order baked goods and macarons.
The Flowers Nest, fresh flowers for every occasion.
Citrine Lounge Spa in Etna, for facials, lashes and pedicures.
The Avery Theatre in Etna, with community movie nights all winter.
If you're one of them, we'd love to go deeper and tell the whole story.
