Three creators who love nature and the open road can share Blossom Sanctuary for three nights with the Blossom Artist Pass for $210.90 each, tax included. Here is why this kind of trip fits 2026, how long the drive takes from Redding, Ashland, the Bay Area and Portland, what it costs, and a three-day wellness plan for your stay.
Why a small-town creative retreat fits 2026
The trips people save and share this year are slower, smaller and more hands-on. A house in a mountain valley with room to make things fits all three.
Slow travel. KAYAK reports #slowtravel posts rose nearly 330% in 2025, and over half of travelers say slower trips clear their heads.
Well-th trips. Over 60% of next-gen travelers rank a mental reset as their top priority, and #wellnesstravel posts rose 150% on TikTok, according to KAYAK.
Little big trips. 84% would rather escape to a smaller town, and 69% of Gen Z want places that aren't already all over their feeds.
Creative breaks. The HBX Group 2026 travel trends report names trips where you make something, not just look at it, as the top trend of the year.
Wild, low-tech wellness. Wellness is moving outdoors and offline: walks in nature, simple rituals and fewer screens, as International Traveller reports.
Night skies. Stargazing and moonlit walks are one of the year's travel themes, according to We3Travel.
Etna has a population under 800, dark skies, and the Marble Mountains and Russian Wilderness on the horizon. Three friends get the whole house: three bedrooms, a full kitchen, a wood stove, a walled garden and 4.2 acres of meadow and oaks.
The road trip in
Etna sits at the southwest edge of Scott Valley, about 30 miles west of Interstate 5 at Yreka. Most of the drive is the trip itself: Mount Shasta from I-5, then ranch land and mountains on Highway 3.
From Ashland: about 1.5 hours, I-5 south over the Siskiyou Pass to Yreka, then Highway 3.
From Redding: about 2.25 hours, I-5 north past Mount Shasta to Yreka, then Highway 3.
From San Francisco and the Bay Area: about 5.5 to 6 hours, I-80 to I-505 and I-5 north, then Highway 3 at Yreka.
From Portland: about 6 to 6.5 hours, I-5 south through Oregon to Yreka, then Highway 3.
Times are typical dry-road drives without stops. From November through spring, drive in daylight, travel together, and check Caltrans QuickMap and ODOT TripCheck for chain controls on the Siskiyou Pass and Highway 3. Free EV charging comes with every stay.

A three-day wellness itinerary at Blossom
The plan has three slow days built around rest, making things and time outside. Bring your own art supplies, journals and cameras.
Day 1 (Sunday): arrive and land
Leave early enough to arrive in daylight. Check-in is at 3 PM.
Walk the meadow and the oak grove at golden hour, phones in pockets.
Cook the first dinner together in the full kitchen.
Light the wood stove and each write one intention for the trip.
Step outside after dark: Etna's skies are dark enough for real stargazing.
Day 2 (Monday): make something
Slow morning, with no screens until 10 AM.
Sketch, paint or shoot in the walled garden and under the oaks. Each person picks one small project to finish by the last night.
Follow the treasure hunt clue card from the kitchen counter, around the grounds and onto Main Street in Etna. The treasures are gifts from Scott Valley businesses.
Take a gentle afternoon walk along the Scott River in daylight.
Hold an evening share: each person shows what they made that day.
Day 3 (Tuesday): reset
Watch the sunrise over the valley with coffee from the kitchen.
Take an easy hike in the Klamath National Forest. Check snow and road conditions first, start early, and stay together.
Rest in the afternoon: a nap, a book, or quiet by the fire.
Have an analog night: film photos, handwritten postcards and a long dinner.
Finish your projects and plan what you'll post.
Day 4 (Wednesday): head home
Pack up with a slow breakfast. Checkout is at 11 AM.
Drive home in daylight, with Mount Shasta in the windshield if you're heading south on I-5.
Content ideas that match the trends
Slow travel: a no-talking Reel of one slow morning, with the wood stove, coffee and fog on the meadow.
Little big trips: "Small town, big valley," a Main Street walk and the treasure hunt finds.
Creative breaks: a time-lapse of one painting or sketch from first line to finished, shot in the walled garden.
Well-th trips: a three-day reset diary, one minute a day on how you feel.
Road trip: a car-window montage from your city to Etna, with drive times on screen.
Night skies: a stargazing photo set or a long exposure from the meadow.
Low-tech wellness: film photos and handwritten notes from the analog night.
