Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and downtown Etna has the whole evening planned by some of the people who make this town what it is. Here is the night, start to finish, and how to make a weekend of it.
Saturday, October 31
5:30 to 6:30 PM: Trunk or Treat on Main Street. The Etna Police Activities League hosts Trunk or Treat on Main Street between Diggles Street and Collier Way, with candy, games and fun for the kids. Etna PAL brings local officers, kids and families together all year through sports and activities, so this one is as much a town gathering as a candy run.
7 PM: Halloween party at The Garage. Right after, Denny Bar Company keeps the night going at The Garage, across the street from the distillery at 511 Main Street. Doors open at 7. There are drinks and live music, all ages are welcome, and there is no cover charge.
7:30 PM: Sundown Poachers
9 PM: JT and the Ignitors
11 AM to close: the Black Bottle Release. Earlier in the day, the Denny Bar Company tasting room is pouring the Black Bottle Release, a bourbon and a rye, and the final bottling in their limited Heritage Collection. If you want a table for dinner first, reserve on Tock.
All details come from Denny Bar Company's event post. Plans can change, so check their page the day of.
Why this night matters to us
These organizers, artists and community members have been a treasured part of our valley for as long as I can remember. Year after year they keep improving, polishing and adding to the quality of life here in Scott Valley, and we are so grateful.
Everything Denny Bar Company does has a special touch. You can taste it in a pour made right here on Main Street, and you can see it in the way they set a room, book the music and welcome everyone who walks in. They care about quality and about the guest experience, and they know how to have fun. When they host a night, you can trust you will have a memorable time.
The same goes for the musicians on Saturday's bill and the Etna PAL volunteers who turn Main Street into a block party for the kids. I'm thankful they are here, bringing our community together, and I hope you get to see it for yourself.
Make a weekend of it
Blossom Sanctuary is a private retreat house a short walk from Main Street. Three bedrooms for up to six guests, a wood stove, and 4.2 acres of gardens, so after the last set you walk home under the stars instead of driving a dark mountain road. There is no taxi or ride share in the valley, and that walk matters.
Come Friday, stay through Sunday, and spend the slow morning after with coffee by the stove. If you want to see more of the valley, take a daylight drive on the paved valley roads, stay in the vehicle, and never go alone this time of year.
See open dates and prices for your stay at Blossom Sanctuary. Halloween weekend is open as of this writing.
Blossom Sanctuary is not affiliated with these events. We just love our town.
