A Cozy Fall Social in Fort Jones: three young makers, one night, this Thursday

Three young women who are building their own businesses in Scott Valley are throwing a party together this Thursday, and it is exactly the kind of night this valley does well: small, handmade, and warm.

The Cozy Fall Social is Thursday, October 22, from 6 to 7:30 pm at Fūelhaus, 11913 Main Street in Fort Jones, about 15 minutes from the house. Tickets are $60 and spots are limited: get yours here.

What the night holds

Build a fall bouquet with Grace from The Flowers Nest, who is always sourcing the loveliest flowers, and who happens to be one of the most knowledgeable people in the valley when it comes to buying, investing in and selling real estate in Scott Valley. You make the bouquet, you take it home.

Paint your own doormat with Ava from The Rustic Haul, whose always-updating curation of stylish, desirable pieces makes excellent gifts. She is bringing a few racks of her fall clothing to browse between projects.

Eat from a spread of fresh-baked treats by Calii of Fūelhaus, the farm store and bakery on Main Street. Her cinnamon rolls look absolutely delicious, and the shop, with its thoughtful merch and other treats, stays open through the evening with 15 percent off anything you buy.

Come with your best friend, your mom, your sister, or by yourself. Their words, and they mean it. Whether it is a treat-yourself day or a treat-someone-you-love day, this is a perfect way to spend an evening making good memories.

About Fūelhaus

Fūelhaus is new to Main Street this year, a farm store "nestled in Scott Valley, made with love, always." Calii bakes to order, with a weekly pre-order menu and local delivery on Wednesdays, and opens the shop on announced days. Her sourdough has a following. Follow @fuelhaus.farmstand for the week's menu and hours, and if you are driving home from Mount Shasta or Yreka, this is the stop for treats for the last stretch of road.

Make a day of it

Fort Jones is the first town north of us on Highway 3. Come early for a walk down Main Street and a look at the Fort Jones Museum, and stay after for dinner at Five Marys Burgerhouse, a few doors down; call (530) 468-4555 for a table. Then the short drive home under the stars, with a bouquet on the passenger seat.
