Mt. Ashland Ski Area 2026 to 2027: passes, lessons, night skiing and the drive from Etna

Mt. Ashland is a nonprofit ski area at the top of the Siskiyou Mountains, 8.5 miles up a paved road from Interstate 5 above Ashland, Oregon. It is about an hour and a half to an hour and three quarters from Blossom Sanctuary in Etna. Pair a day on the mountain with a soak in Ashland and a quiet night in the Scott Valley. Here is what we know about the 2026 to 2027 season, from Mt. Ashland's own site unless noted.

The mountain

  • Summit elevation 7,533 feet, 1,150 feet of vertical, 240 skiable acres and 44 trails, plus open bowl skiing. The Forest Service lists average snowfall of more than 265 inches.
  • Lifts: Comer, Lithia and Sonnet triple chairs, Windsor and Ariel double chairs, and the First Act conveyor for beginners.
  • Night skiing as Twilight (3 to 9 PM) and Swing (noon to 9 PM) tickets on select Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
  • New chairs are coming: Windsor is set to be replaced starting May 2027 and Ariel in 2028. Both run this season.

2026 to 2027 season dates and events

Mt. Ashland had not posted an opening date in early November. The Forest Service says the area usually opens in December and runs to mid April, depending on snow. The Winter Kick-Off is Saturday, November 7, 2026, 2 to 7 PM at Vogel Plaza in Medford, with season pass sales and a Warren Miller film at the Craterian Theatre afterward.

Getting there from Etna

Take Highway 3 north to Yreka, then north on I-5 over Siskiyou Summit, the highest point on Interstate 5, to Exit 6. Follow the signs 8.5 miles up the access road, which climbs more than 2,000 feet. Carry chains and use them or traction tires when signs require it. The Snow Phone is (541) 482-2754, and road conditions are on ODOT TripCheck. A free SnowBus shuttle runs during the season. Read our winter driving guide before you go.

Make it a ski and soak day

Ashland is at the bottom of the hill. Soak at Jackson WellSprings, try the bathhouse at Chozu Bath & Tea Gardens, or skate at the seasonal rink in Lithia Park. Our Ashland wellness guide lists every spa, soak and studio. Then head home to Blossom for a quiet night. See our full ski guide and price your stay.

Packing for slow mornings? The Vibes Valuta Winter Drop is six pieces in soft neutrals, embroidered in old gold thread: a ringer tee, rib tank, crew and pant, plus a yoga mat and bottle.
