Most Northern California retreats are a long way from anywhere and crowded once you arrive. Scott Valley is different: a quiet farming valley at the foot of the Marble Mountain Wilderness, with a small town in the middle and mountains on every side.
Blossom Sanctuary is a private retreat house on 4.2 acres of old oaks, pines and terraced gardens just outside Etna. The whole property is yours for the stay.
What nature looks like here
On the land: deer pass through daily, and guests often see wild turkeys, many kinds of birds, butterflies, rabbits and foxes.
Up the road: alpine lakes and the Pacific Crest Trail.
About 11 minutes up the mountain: cold creek pools. Exact directions go to booked guests.
In the garden: a flowing bird bath of stacked stones, lounge chairs, a hammock, and outdoor meditation spaces.
Who it suits
Groups of up to six who want rest more than a schedule: a few friends, a family, a small gathering, or one person who needs a week of quiet. Longer stays cost less per night, with discounts up to 55% for a month.
Getting here
The nearest commercial airport is Rogue Valley International–Medford (MFR), about 83 miles and an hour and a half away via Interstate 5 and Highway 3. In winter, check road conditions over the Siskiyou Pass.
